[ET Net News Agency, 19 September 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$76.83 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$9.02 billion, or 11.74% of the
market's turnover. There were 633 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and MEITUAN-W
(03690) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$552.75 million and HK$494.32
million, or 6.13% and 5.48% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 12.18% and 13.5% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT (00700) and XI2CSOPHSTECH (07552) registered HK$478.67 million and HK$351.02
million of short sales, accounting for 5.31% and 3.89% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 9.83% and 57.18% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$2.75, or 3.32%, to HK$85.6. MEITUAN-W ended up HK$4.2, or 3.27%, to
HK$132.8. TENCENT rose HK$7.6, or 2% to HK$387.6. XI2CSOPHSTECH declined by HK$0.36, or
5.78%, to HK$5.865.
