[ET Net News Agency, 7 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$148.57 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$18.12 billion, or 12.19% of the
market's turnover. There were 772 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and TRACKER FUND
(02800) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.62 billion and HK$1.42
billion, or 8.94% and 7.82% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 12.99% and 21.52% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF (02828) and XIAOMI-W (01810) registered HK$1.11 billion and HK$947.91 million
of short sales, accounting for 6.13% and 5.23% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 24.29% and 28.51% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed down HK$6.1, or 4.05%, to HK$144.7. TRACKER FUND ended down HK$0.24, or
0.89%, to HK$26.64. HSCEI ETF fell HK$1.02, or 1.08% to HK$93.64. XIAOMI-W declined by
HK$0.52, or 1.34%, to HK$38.24.
